Happy Memorial Day

Memorial Day
© 1999 by Michelle Keim,
Commander of Royersford VFW Post 6341 in PA.

As we stand here looking
At the flags upon these graves
Know these flags represent
A few of the true American brave

They fought for their Country
As man has through all of time
Except that these soldiers lying here
Fought for your country and mine

As we all are gathered here
To pay them our respect
Let's pass this word to others
It's what they would expect

I'm sure that they would do it
If it were me or you
To show we did not die in vein
But for the red, white and blue.

Let's pass on to our children
And to those who never knew
What these soldiers died for
It's the least we can do

Let's not forget their families
Great pain they had to bear
Losing a son, father or husband
They need to know we still care

No matter which war was fought
On the day that they died
I stand here looking at these flags
Filled with American pride.

So as the bugler plays out Taps
With its sweet and eerie sound
Pray for these soldiers lying here
In this sacred, hallowed ground.

Take home with you a sense of pride
You were here Memorial Day.
Celebrating the way Americans should
On this solemnest of days.

Tonsils Be Gone!

We always thought Caden was just a loudly snoring child! He was that, however, the enlarged tonsils were causing it! My good friend Heather referred us to her son Luke's ENT and we love him. He said that because Caden had sleep apnea, that was the reason for them wanting to remove them. He was not the typical candidate because he had not had strep 3 or more times in a 6 month period, it was simply the apnea that led them to remove the tonsils. Last Friday he had them removed and he is a different child because of it!

Here he is with his Buzz Lightyear toy and his Mickey Mouse socks and hospital gown waiting on the Dr.Mommy and Caden
'Hmm...I wonder how today will go...'
Caden telling Daddy a story!
I'll spare you all the sad little pictures from after surgery. He had quite the time coming out of anesthesia! It was very scary watching him flip around and become very agitated. We made it through, but it was scary nonetheless!

Here he is after he got home watching one of his movies.
Thanks to all of you for the calls and emails and texts checking on him. I think it was much more rough on us all seeing him go through the sleepless nights after surgery and the the fever and not wanting to eat. He is on the mend now and speaks so much more clear! He is talking non-stop which we think is too funny! Thank you to Mom for being there so I could look at you for assurance that whatever was going on was normal!

Thanks to GiGi and Poppa for coming up and bringing all the coloring books, movies and 'surprises' throughout the weekend and to Mary and Don for the colors and coloring book. He loves it all.

As a side note, Sunday night Tim, Mom and I watched Avatar and Caden came running to me and said, 'Mommy, I go tee tee on the potty.' He is in love with the idea of potty training but has not quite grasped it so I was skeptical when I got up to follow him to the potty. To my amazement, he hopped right up there and tee teed! I was over the moon and he flushed the toilet and then ran into the media room and told everyone and gave us all high fives! Of course he has not done that since, but it was an accomplishment anyway!

Caden's Vacation

The week before Caden's surgery, Caden got to spend a week in Conroe visiting Bella, Lane, Auntie Kay, Auntie (yes he calls him Auntie), Scott, GiGi and Poppa. He had a blast and we want to thank you guys for keeping him. He had so much fun that he never wanted to talk to Tim and me on the phone while he was there! I sent my camera along and Mom got some great pictures. I'm sure they are out of order, but here we go!

Caden happen to be down in Conroe when Cook Springs Baptist Church (the church Dad is a pastor of) had a Kids night with bounce houses and slides.

Here is Caden in a bounce house. (He calls them 'birthday' houses because of all the parties he has been to!)
Caden and Bella!
Caden also got to attend one of Lane's baseball games! Here are Caden, Bella and Kari.
Monkey See Monkey Do!
All of the grand kids are fascinated by this lamp at Mom and Dad's. They love gently playing with the beads that hang down!
Here he is with some beads around his neck playing near the lamp again!
GiGi and Poppa decided to sit on the porch swing one night and listen to the crickets and drink coffee. Here they all are sitting outside. I'm told that Caden had some coffee! Now he'll say, 'Mommy, I need coffee!'
Playing kick ball with Poppa!
Riding the 4-Wheeler.
Sliding down the slide that he calls GiGi and Poppa's Playground.
Classic Caden half smile!

Here is a video of Caden at Lane's game. You can hear him saying, 'Go Lane!'

Here he is sliding down the playground slide!

Tim and I had a blast at the Nickelback concert! We had dinner at Sushi on McKinney and then headed to the show. I was hoarse when I got home from singing ALL the songs! Nickelback put on a great show and I would love to go and see them again! Here we are in between the show. The stage was amazing and the band had a lot of pyrotechnics going on throughout it!
Enjoying the concert!

Like Father Like Son

Well the full circle moment is upon us. When Tim was a child he had to have his tonsils removed and it looks like Caden is scheduled for surgery next Friday to have his removed as well! Caden is not the typical patient requiring a tonsillectomy because he has had zero ear infections and has only had strep once in his short life. However, when we told the ENT and his Pediatrician how he breathed at night, it was determined that Caden has sleep apnea so we were advised that they need to go!

Here he is in Daddy's lap at the ENT's office.
