Work-Related Injury???

So, I knew being a mother was a full-time job, but did you know it could be dangerous as well??? Last night I was holding Caden and reading '5 Little Monkeys' to him. He was getting all excited as I sang through the book and he flung his right arm in the air and his finger poked me in the eye! It hurt soooooo bad! I went to the Dr. today and I have a scratched cornea! Fun times I tell ya! I got some drops and they put in a contact to protect my eye and I should be fine in a few days. Here is a picture of the little culprit!

Congratulations Lane Scott Reaves!

Our nephew won 3rd place at the Montgomery County Fair Grounds last night in the Stick Horse Race! He called me to tell me he won 3rd place and when I asked him if he got a ribbon he said, 'Yep, it's white, my favorite color!'

Visit from MiMi

MiMi came for a visit today and brought me some Red Velvet Sprinkles Cupcakes!! LOVE 'EM! Thank you so much Cheryl!! Caden was showing off for her pushing up on his little TV and standing. He is growing WAY too fast! Just when we get adjusted to one new thing he starts another! Here he is playing in the kitchen on the tile with her.

Eat Mor Chikin!

Tonight Caden had chicken for the first time! After the first few bites I took my mom's advice and mixed a little fruit with it! He loved it AFTER I added fruit! It was pretty funny!

The Songs We Sing In Our Sleep

I remember back when my now 4 year old nephew Lane was Caden's age and my sister told me that she would have these songs stuck in her head from his toys. I fully understand that now! Here is a video of Caden in his jumper. This music is like circus music playing in my head! You all know how much I LOVE CLOWNS! NOT!

I Totally Get That Now...

Remember when your parents told you when you were sick that 'if I could take away the pain away or be sick in your place I would'? I never understood that until Caden began TEETHING! I totally get that statement. Tim and I have been comforting our little one throughout the past few nights and into the night and morning! I stood there last night holding him while he was crying and I told him that! I said, 'Caden, if I could take the pain away I would'! It was like an epiphany! Ah ha! Mom and Dad used to say that and I never understood why anyone would want to be sick or hurt in my place, BUT I GET THAT! There is no sickness I would fear taking on that Caden could give me! I just had to share that. Check back with me when he's a lot older to see if I say the two words I swore I'd never say to my child...'We'll see...' I hated hearing that, because it wasn't quite a NO but it wasn't good enough to warrant a YES. Anyway, just my rambling thoughts...

Where Did Daddy Go?

Tonight Caden followed Tim down the hall after he left the room. Once he found Daddy, he turned around and wanted Daddy to follow him!

The Low Down

So, the time has finally come...we had to lower Caden's mattress all the way down. I was on the phone with Tim on Friday and I was sitting in my rocking chair in Caden's room while he was playing in his crib. Next thing I know, he's standing up looking at me. I felt like he was teetering on the edge of a cliff and I didn't want to scare him into falling over the edge. It went something like, 'Hey Caden (very quietly) whatcha doing?' at which time I casually walked over and snatched him outta there so he wouldn't 'bust his head open'...If I had a dollar for every time our parents told us that! But, now I say it too!! We ran into our friends Reed and Stacy at church on Sunday and were telling them it was time to lower it and Reed had a great suggestion! He said, 'Go ahead and lower it all the way down...' With their daughter they lowered it one level and ended up lowering it again in a couple of weeks. So here is the 'low down' picture.

Special Prayers (UPDATED)

Mr. Teel made it through the surgery fine. Thank you all for the prayers. He will be in CCU a couple of days, but all is well so far.

Mr. Bill and Vida Teel are dear friends of our family. They attended the church my dad was the pastor of before the one he is currently at now. Mr. Teel is having open heart surgery this morning in Conroe. He has blockages of 50%, 90% and 80%. Ironically I picked out Caden's outfit last night as I do each 'night before' and without realizing it until today, the outfit is from the Teels. He has not worn it yet and it struck me when I was dressing him that it was a gift from them. Funny how sometimes God speaks to you in different ways. I know none of you may know them, but please lift them up in your prayers. They are like another set of grandparents to Tim and me. Here are a couple of pictures of Caden in his outfit this morning. I caught him sleeping in the swing and then when he heard me take the picture, he smiled for the second photo.

I tried to give him cut up peaches tonight. You would have thought I was feeding the child earthworms!

Happy Easter

This posting is pretty long, but your little one only has one First Easter! I am posting them in the order in which they happened! I hope you can keep up!

Here is Caden with his Easter basket that the Easter Bunny left him! He got a stuffed blue bunny and a cool book about the Easter Bunny that sings and lights up! His Easter card even made a cool squeaky noise!

We had a wonderful time at church today and look forward to Caden getting older and understanding the 'real' meaning of Easter. Pastor Ed Young delivered a wonderful message today. The music was fantastic with a video of scenes from 'The Passion of the Christ'. It was very moving. Caden went to the 'Dolphin' room (nursery for the crawlers) and Mrs. Nancy, Cooper's Mommy was there. She had fun playing with Caden and vice versa! We even got a very cool keepsake with his footprint on it! She took the picture below of us after we picked Caden up.

It would not be a holiday if Mommy didn't dress Caden in at least two outfits! Here is his play outfit he wore to the Sarratt's house. I think he is saying, 'Mommy...Look at Daddy while he takes this picture...'

Caden got a cool blue egg and some bubbles for Easter from the Sarratts! Thank you for the wonderful food and great time!!

Big afternoon for Baby Caden! Here he is when we got home from the Sarratts...He has this habit of pulling his pant leg up...he was tired! Finally, off to Grammie's where Caden got a cool Easter bunny that moved around when you pulled his tail!
