Whose Child Is This?

Tim's Mom, a.k.a. Grammie, watched Caden last night while I went to my hair appointment. I came home before he went to bed and as I turned the corner into the kitchen he ran to me, gave me a big hug and a kiss and SMACKED ME ON THE FACE with his hand! I disciplined him and promptly sat him down as Pat was telling me what a model child he had been all night. As I am trying to pay attention to her, my child whose brain has been replaced by that of a wild Indian came flying by the couch, and just bit the arm of the couch and continued running into the kitchen, around through the office and into the living room and slammed into me (I was sitting on the floor) and he bit me on the leg! I am thinking 'WHO ARE YOU AND HOW MUCH DO I NEED TO PAY YOU TO GET MY CHILD BACK?' I just looked at my mother in law who had this totally calm look on her face while she said, 'That's kids...they will do that every time you come to pick them up from Grammie's.' I ask you all, HOW IS THIS? One moment he's having a lovely evening with Grammie and Mommy walks in and the child becomes possessed??? I just sat there with my mouth open watching him RUN NOT WALK throughout the house touching everything he knows he should not be touching and then some! Anyway, it was a sight to behold.
I always swore to myself (in my head) I would never use those phrases our parents used on us growing up. Having said that, over the weekend Caden was climbing up on the ottoman (yes we climb now) and he started to topple off of it believing he was invincible and the following words just poured out of my mouth as if my MOTHER had taken over my body: 'Caden, watch out! You're going to fall and bust your head open!' Has anyone REALLY fallen and busted their head open? I mean really fell off of something soft onto carpet and their head just 'bust' open? I digress, anyway, he just looked at me and if someone had taken a picture I'm sure my face would have been that of horror! I just said what I hated to hear as a child! The next thing you know I'll be telling him to move away from the T.V. or he's going to go blind. Oh the horror!

More Lunch Time Fun With Amber and Jamie

Jamie and I decided to have lunch together today at Pei Wei. I got there after Jamie did only to learn they were closed for some reason (it was posted on the door but the lack of cars in the parking lot at 12:17 PM gave it away). Jamie suggested our 2nd choice of Subway down the road.

We had lunch and were standing outside on the walkway chatting before we left when this woman walked up to us. We both thought the lady needed to get by so we both in unison took a step back and said, 'Sorry.' To which the lady only stood in front of us and in a rambling partly incoherent voice said,
WHAT AMBER HEARD HER SAY: "Excuse me. Can either of you help me? I am homeless and I need money for a hotel room."
WHAT JAMIE HEARD HER SAY: "Excuse me. Can either of you help me? I am homeless and I need money to feed my children."
Regardless of what she said, Jamie and I in unison once again just stared at her at what seemed like an eternity (perhaps waiting for the other to say something).
We were not sure if she was finished speaking until she looked at us both and sighed. Then we clicked and once again as if we were in an orchestrated play grabbed our purses (like you would if you were to walk through a bad neighborhood in town-not that I do that, come to think of it-but YOU GET THE IDEA!) and at the same time we both mumbled something like, 'Oh, ummm...I don't have any cash...I'm sorry.' So the lady walked off, completely throwing off our train of thought from whatever we were talking about when she walked up!
Just to set this up...she had A LOT of foundation on (the color that even if you were in the dark would not match her neck or any other part of her skin). She came from the direction of a vet clinic and was carrying a blue animal cage with something in it. I think she also had A LOT of clothing on for such a warm day. The ironic part of this whole story (since no one will find humor in it but Jamie and me) is that we both did exactly the same thing at the exact same moment throughout this bizarre exchange between us and this lady. The most awkward part-in my opinion-is the length of time we both paused before answering this lady. It was like we were waiting on the other one to take the lead!
Not only did Jamie and I do the exact same thing with regard to this lady, but we both were wearing leopard print blouses today!
Oh well, never a dull moment in the lunch outings of ours!

I'm a Rock Star

So now that I've been on T.V. it totally makes me an official celebrity, but something happened today that made me feel like that even more so. (Although it was on a much smaller scale!)
Do you guys every walk through the frozen food section where all the doors and freezers are that are lit up? I went to the store today and I was pushing my cart down the aisle and noticed (at first) that the freezers were not lit up. Then, as if I were on a runway in Milan, as I would pass by the freezers, the lights would turn on. For a brief moment, I was a celebrity walking down a red carpet and the freezers were flashbulbs going off. It was great, then I nearly ran into some stock boy with a huge box of fish sticks. Snapped me out of that fantasy real quick!

I Did Not Get the Memo...

that after your child turns a year old, they quit smiling at the camera on command!

'I'm too sleepy to smile...sorry Mommy.'

'I'm smiling behind my thumb.''If I don't look at Mommy she won't see me.''Seriously Mommy, enough already.''Mommy, give it up.' 'Do I look like I want to smile? Huh?' 'I'm not paying attention to you anymore Mommy.' 'Telephone Mommy! It's for you! Now maybe you'll put the camera away.'

'I'm only smiling because Mommy is holding my favorite ball over her head and I want it.'

'Talk to the feet Mommy.'Seriously guys! What happened to THIS baby?

To Confirm Your Presidential Choice

A friend sent this link to me and I love it. ABC News has set up a test where you choose which quote from either Obama or McCain that you agree with-without you knowing who said it-and then the test will tally the score to see which president you agreed with the most.
It confirmed my pick that is for sure!

NHRA Races in Ennis

Tim and I went to the NHRA races today in Ennis. It was my first time to experience the sights and sounds though Tim has been many times. It was so fun! Every muscle in my body moved the first time the top fuel dragsters went down the track! It was crazy! We actually got on T.V. also. The ESPN cameras headed over to us when the first pair went down the track and we taped the races and happen to see ourselves on T.V. tonight! Thank you to Grammie for keeping Caden last night and today while Mommy and Daddy had a date night last night and fun at the races. I know Caden had a blast and we really appreciate you watching him!
Here is a picture of us right before we made our T.V. debut!

The Mall & Swinging

Today we ventured out to the mall to run around. Caden had fun people-watching and I had to take him to the Great American Cookie Company (a mall tradition with my sister and me!). Here are some shots of him having a double doozie.
'I'm ready for my cookie Mommy.'
'Come on Mommy, give it to me.'

'Whoa, this is soooooo good.'

After we got home and he had dinner, we headed outside for some more swinging. I guess the mall wore him out because not long after we started, he was out. I might also add that two doors down, our neighbor was having his tree trimmed and Caden slept through the chainsaw noise and all! He caught me.

Who can resist these brown eyes??? I'm telling you, it will be hard to say no to them some day!

More Caden Happenings...

We have been playing this week waiting on Caden's little spots to heal. Here are some pictures from yesterday.
'Peace!''I am too cool for words.'

'Check out my Hollywood sunglasses.' 'That's right...Caden Pox Ivey too cool for daycare this week.'

Grammie came over to check on him and bring some super cute fall outfits, mittens, socks and Halloween clothes. Here is Caden not too thrilled about her leaving.

Caden Pox

Caden and I were home today trying to let his little spots heal up. After I bathed him tonight, I noticed new ones! I am still hoping that given the amount of spots that it is vaccine related though. He should have less than 20 total for it to be related to his shots. Here are some pictures of him from tonight.
Big brown eyes...
The one on the side of his head looks the worst. The ones on his cheek and forehead are new.Oh, and did I mention, he's getting his 8th tooth on the bottom now...obvious by the drool on the p.j.'s! The new tooth that is coming through is on the bottom left if you are facing him. Here he is playing with a new toy Grammie gave him. It reads nursery rhymes to him. He loves to push all the buttons of course.

Chicken Pox

Well what I thought was a few bug bites on Friday evening, turned out to be a reaction to Caden's Chicken Pox vaccine he had back on August 25th. I noticed 3 little bites on the inside of his leg on Friday night and then Saturday morning there were more and now they have blistered up. I took him to see Dr. Berry today and she said that it is a reaction to the vaccine and that he should not be around other children until the blisters scab over (TMI, sorry!). So, I was out sick today as well and we will both be home tomorrow or at least until his little bumps have healed. The good news is that he is not scratching them and there are only about 15 little spots. WAYYYY less than what I had back in 2nd grade when I got the Chicken Pox WAYYY before they had a Chicken Pox vaccine! So, always drama at the Ivey house, that is what we are dealing with for now!
The family in Conroe is still doing well, thankfully the weather is much cooler today which helps so much! Thanks for all the calls and prayers though!

Weekend

Caden LOVES to read his books. One of his favorites is Pat the Bunny. Here are some cute pictures of him with his book.
'I love you Pat the Bunny book...I'm giving you some kisses.'

'I'm playing peek-a-boo with Paul.'

Here he is trying to read a DVD. He thought it was a book.
This look on Caden's face is a new one. He tucks his upper lip in and sticks his bottom lip out and so I got a shot of it on camera.

'I would love to go Swimming Mommy!'

'I'll be right back.''I have to put my shapes back in the Mickey plane.'

That has pretty much been our weekend. We have been watching IKE on T.V. and talking back and forth to Mom and Dad. They are doing well other than no electricity so we are hoping they get it back on soon.

IKE

I have spoken to my parents in Conroe and they are okay. No damages to the house that they can see. They have a lot of limbs and debris down in the yard, but nothing major. They are without power of course and have been since midnight last night (Friday night). I am so frustrated however because their home phone is out and Mom's cell phone service is with Sprint which is not working! Dad's cell phone is working but his battery is low and he doesn't have his car charger. My Mom spoke to my sister earlier this morning and they are okay as well. By the way, their phones are with Sprint as well! Thank you to all of you who called me to check on them.

Pizza?

Our chatty little son has come up with a new word. Well, new to him perhaps...

'AhhhhhPeeeeeza!'

Which to the untrained ear, sounds like, 'Ah...Pizza!' Tim and I think it is hilarious so we are going to try to video him saying it.

7 Short Years Ago...

I cannot believe it has already been 7 years ago today. It is one of those times that we as a country will be able to say, 'I remember where I was when...' just as my parents have said, 'I remember where I was when JFK was killed...' I pray that my son never has to experience something so tragic as we witnessed back in 2001. We are in constant prayers for all the servicemen and women that daily put their lives on the line in a country far from home to keep us safe in ours. Click here for information on Patriot Day.

Caden and the Nike Shoes

Father and Son

I was just talking to Jamie about this today. Caden has this fascination with shoes. If you leave a pair out on the floor, one of them is going to end up in another room courtesy of Caden Cole. He especially loves his Daddy's Nike's.

I love this picture because we think he looks so grown up! He also looks like he has done something wrong.

'I can't wait to grow up so I can wear shoes like Daddy's.'

'Until then, I'll just have to settle for carrying them around.'

'Are you following me Mommy?'

'Okay, I'll stop and let you catch me.'

'Time to carry my shoe around now. It is much lighter!'
